About

André Lopes is a Brazilian musician from Rio de Janeiro. He started playing the keyboard in the church when he was 13. His main influences are George Duke, Lars Jansson, Grupo Cesar Camargo Mariano, Paulo Calasans, Djavan, Yellow Jackets, Tom Jobim, Take 6, Kirk Franklin, Hosanna Music, Fred Hammond, The Winans, Marvin Sapp and others. Over more than 30 years of career, André Lopes has performed with some important artists such as Kirk Whalum, Nelson Faria, Akademik Orkester (Örebro/Sweden), Cassiane, Adhemar de Campos, Baby do Brasil, Davi Sacer, Eyshila, Kleber Lucas and many others. 

From August/2014 to June/2015, André Lopes joined in the Academic Mobility Program between the Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO) and Örebro Universitet, in Sweden. Among several projects, André took improvisation classes with Nelson Faria, played in the Jobim's Tribute Concert with the Akademik Orkester (Katarina Andreasson conduction and Nelson Faria arrangements).

Currently André is living in USA where he is working as the music director at Reach Assembly of God’s church in Hyannis/MA. He has committed to many projects, such as: music productions, arrangements, recordings, classes, and workshops, which covers topics such as harmony, perception, improvisation and ensemble classes.
